DESCRIPTION OF ACTIONS

Basing on the ten principles of SDGs African Agency for Integrated Development is mostly centered on the environment principle in that the change in the environment and climate is affecting Uganda where by a lot of insures have happened affecting the local community in the following ways due to climate change

  • Water scarcity
  • Hunger
  • Lack of implementation of the set  up policies governing environmental protection and conservation

Recognizing the risks that water and sanitation problems pose to societies and economies around the world, AAID is adopting new policies and practices to reduce their corporate water use, improve the quality of water returned to the environment, and provide decent water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services for employees and the communities in which they operate,  enlightened business leaders recognize that healthy societies and healthy markets go hand-in-hand, and, further, that achieving water and sanitation security will require the collaboration of the public sector, civil society, and the business community .

African Agency for Integrated Development has done this through construction and rehabilitation of water facilities and engaging the community to participate so as to sustain those water sources for feature use.

PART III. MEASUREMENT OF OUTCOMES

African Agency for Integrated Development (AAID) has put an initiative of starting the project of sensitizing private sectors in western Uganda Especially those operating near river banks not to contaminate the running water. The running water in the project area was contaminated by flowing used oils from Garages near the rivers.  So the Garage owners have been called to discuss for possible solutions to avoid this contamination and sensitization on the dangers of contaminating water.

The private sector plays a unique role and vital role in translating the SDGs into new sustainable markets, services and products. The used oil products are being sold to local builders as advised by AAID hence improved services, business services within the community.

AAID has informed Uganda government and other policy makers of the responsible business community’s willingness to contribute to the formation of any water and sanitation goals as well as future implementation efforts involving the private sector.

JOINT PLANNING ON TREE PLANTATION

AAID has gone a head to plan with private sector on how tree planting can be increased in different locations where private sectors conduct their daily business. This has been put into implementation in this year 2017 and the project is to take two years.
